 Swaffham Visit to Rue-Baie April 2006 |
This picture was taken outside the Historic Mining Centre at Lewarde, east of Arras. The mine closed
in 1971 and is now the largest mining museum in France. Once we had all donned safety helmets, we were taken on a tour of the old mine workings. It was a fascinating and memorable experience, especially the part where we all descended deep underground to see the actual tunnels and mining shafts.
